What is a Mutant Messiah?
I believe the best way to conceptualize what a "Mutant Messiah" is, is to consider the definitions of the two terms in context. The word "mutant" in this context is used to describe one who has adapted or changed to compensate for the difficulties of his or her own life. "Messiah" in this context is the person revealing the benefits of the adaptation or change to anyone who is willing to take from it.
For a time, we go through our lives setting expectations for ourselves and others, only to become disappointed and apathetic. We turn to our religious institutions for guidance, and with them, many of us find great words of wisdom. These teachings show us how to see our lives differently; we adjust and adapt to our disappointments and we often find or achieve what we believe is our maximum level of happiness and control of our lives from our individual perspectives.
Because we believe we will not enjoy every experience we have, we find ourselves not as content as we can be. As I see it, it doesn't have to be this way. We can continue to choose to see thing's differently. Imagine how fulfilling your life would be if all your dreams were realized. What if everything you want, you already have? The key to our lives of joy, love and satisfaction is to not focus on the "things" or concepts we currently believe will "make" us happy. We do not really care if we get these "things." What we do care about is the joy, love and satisfaction we believe they will bring us. As long as we work for "things" and do not acknowledge our true desires, we are selling ourselves short and continuing the feedback loop that is expectation=>disappointment=>expectation=>disappointment...
These concepts may come off as incompatible with your current thinking and you find this all to be nonsense. If this is the case, you're still reading this so I have to assume you may be intrigued. Or you may be thinking "I already know this. This is more of the same stuff I already know, it's common sense." It's possible that you are one of those who come across information assuming it was already part of you and you "knew" this all along. I am not saying you didn't already accept this as real to you before you came to this information. I agree that it's possible, but from my perspective, most of us have a predisposition to accept that which we agree with as something we are willing to identify as part of us after the fact, as if we've always known.
As I see it, by default, all information is weeded out of our minds like this. We come across information and accept it as "true" or "false" based on a comparison we instantly make with all of our previous experience. The "truth" is that we can choose how that comparison is made. Many of us feel as though what we know, we know because all is as it is. This is not entirely "true." There is something more impressive happening to us as we come across information. Notice, the next time you come across information that conflicts with your current beliefs, notice that you instantly work to justify why your beliefs are "right" or "true" and the conflicting information is "wrong" or "false."
Everyone has their own unique perspective on life. Their perspective has, until now (hopefully), relied mostly on the acceptance of the information provided by sources they respected enough to trust. This doesn't necessary lead to "truth." Most sources have a vested interest in the continued acceptance of the teachings those sources provide. Consider your belief, do you believe it because it's true to you? Or do you believe it because you trust the sources that provided that information to you? The sources you have placed your trust in have received their information from a source that they trust, or they have a vested interest in you following their teachings. Consider how your belief is limiting you, not necessarily in a moral or religious way, that's not what I am referring to here. Notice why some of the teachings you've received have prevented you from growing in the directions you'd like to grow only to further the agenda of it's source. Whether this means anything to you or not, consider it as a possibility with an open mind.
We choose what we believe and we will always find justifications for our belief. If you'd prefer a different life, choose to believe and make choices that will better reflect your desires and you find those beliefs also justified. A true "Mutant Messiah" cannot judge, pressure, or condemn but instead advises to the ones willing to use any of the information provided to attain their desires. The desire to seek and share this kind of awareness knowing all belief is valid in context is the essence of a "Mutant Messiah."
Enjoy!
